Just before summer ends, Ciara reminded us why she is one of the reigning dance queens of our generation and dropped her Level Up visuals. Aside from the bomb choreography and costumes, what really stuck with me is the message in the song. Level Up is the ultimate glow up anthem! Here is a woman who has experienced so much negativity in her life, publicly declaring that yes she has made mistakes but her life has been made better by overcoming them. It’s so empowering to know that your mistakes don’t define you. No matter how much we may feel like we are on the wrong path, there’s always room for redemption.
My favorite line from the song says “No losses, just upgrading, my lessons, made blessings. I turned that into money. Thank God I never settled. This view is so much better.” Although Ci Ci specifically mentions her financial level up (sis is making bank from all these modeling campaigns), the biggest takeaway here is that as long as you want more for yourself, God can help you turn your circumstances around. We always hear people say that all it takes is the faith of a mustard seed and it’s true. The art of leveling up is found in trusting that God has something better in store for you and being willing to put in the work to get there. Reaching those new blessings won’t be easy but according to Ciara, it’s worth it!
