3 Ways to Save Money in Your 20s

It’s no secret that learning to manage your money well early on will set you up for financial freedom later. But many of us in our 20s are not making bank just yet. Despite entry level jobs and side hustles, it can be hard to find a few extra dollars to tuck away. I’ve rounded up 3 ways I manage to save a few extra dollars every month that can work for you too!

Meal Prep Mami

Okay I know you are rolling your eyes right about now but hear me out! Buying food every day, whether its breakfast or lunch, really adds up. Depending on where you work a typical lunch combo can be anywhere from $10-$15. Once I started meal prepping I realized that for the amount of money I spent buying just lunch every day, I could provide myself with breakfast, lunch AND dinner if I just went to the grocery store and prepared my own meals.

There’s An App for That

We already have a million apps on our phones so why not download apps that will help you save money? Download coupon saving apps like Groupon and Retailmenot to find discounts. My current money saving app obsession is Gas Buddy. It helps you find the cheapest gas station in your area. You can even download apps like Digit that will save money for you.

Credit Card Queen

If you are in your 20s, you probably have at least 1 credit card. If you don’t have one, consider getting one. Used responsibly, credit cards can help fill in the income gaps we face between paychecks. One credit card tip that I’d give is finding a credit card that gives cash back on purchases. I have a credit card that gives me a certain percentage of cash back on all my purchases. At the end of the month, I transfer the cash back from my credit card to a savings account. No coins left behind!
