A Different Kind of Love Story

Valentines Day is a little over a week away and everyone is anticipating being showered and celebrated by the ones they love. I’m single but I am still excited about Valentines Day. I’m planning to pamper myself and bask in self love. Celebrating Valentines Day as a single woman is fun when you know that love manifests in more than just romantic relationships. Love is all around us and starts with us. I love myself. It took a while to get to the point where I could say that and mean it, but WE HERE!

Loving myself, flaws and all, got much easier once I understood the love that God has for me. Everything about me was designed by God. Everything about me was intentional, from the way my hair curls to the cadence of my laugh. The same is true for you.Every aspect of your being was orchestrated by God.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalms 139: 13-14, NIV

Just like a pregnant mother loves her child long before giving birth, God loved us long before we entered this world. And to prove it, He made the greatest show of love.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16, NIV

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

John 15:13, NIV

God knew that there would be times when we didn’t feel loved. He knew there would be times when we didn’t love ourselves. So he went out of his way to let us know that he loved us long before we could choose to love him back. Sacrificing his son, Jesus Christ, is a constant reminder of that love. This Valentine’s Day, whether you are boo’d up or sexy and single, consider a different kind of love story. Take heart in knowing you are a recipient of the greatest display of love ever demonstrated.
