It’s officially been two months since I moved into my very first apartment. I’m settled in and well into my home decorating process. Amazon packages are arriving consistently, I make at least one trip to Home Goods a week and I’ve even started working on a few DIY projects. The first room I chose to design was my living room. I love to entertain so having a well designed space for friends and family to enjoy when they come over was my first priority. After 2 months of feeling out my space, I grew tired of the plain white walls. Rather than hassling my leasing office for permission to paint, I decided to look into the vast world of removable wallpaper. And I am so glad I did! It was the perfect way to show my walls a little love without breaking out the paint brushes.
I was so excited to find the MOIRE DOTS wallpaper design from Tempaper. This design adds so much warmth and character to my space! I am obsessed!
Before getting to the fun part, I had to determine exactly how many rolls of wallpaper I would need. Tempaper has an amazing feature on their website called a Wallpaper Calculator. Simply input the height and width of your wall into the calculator and they will process the square footage for you. Use this measurement to determine how many rolls are needed to cover your desired area. It was recommended that I order 4 rolls to cover my wall but I ordered 5 to accommodate the excess paper that would be wasted when trying to match the designs perfectly. If you have textured walls, be sure to order a sample of your design first to test that it will actually stick.
Installing the wallpaper was a breeze! I honestly can’t believe I was able to finish the entire project on my own. Talk about a mid-week confidence boost! This was my first time ever attempting a project like this so believe me when I say that installing removable wallpaper is very beginner friendly. It took a few tries to get the first panel into place but by the time I got to panel number 3, I’d found my stride.
Now let’s talk about price! Prior to this experience, I thought that removable wallpaper was expensive. But it doesn’t have to be! There are a ton of affordable options out there for those of us who don’t want to break the bank. I was very aware of the fact that ordering wallpaper during a pandemic isn’t a necessary expense. I only took the plunge after realizing that peel and stick wallpaper is actually inexpensive.
Am I concerned at all about the wallpaper damaging my walls once I remove it? Nope! I ordered a sample of the wallpaper and hid it behind the door of my bedroom. It’s been there for the last month. Once I felt like I was ready to make my purchase , went back to the sample and removed it to be sure it wouldn’t cause any damage. Removing was as simple as peeling off a sticker!
I couldn’t be more pleased with how my living room looks. Now all that’s left to do is mount my art, order curtains and a rug, purchase an accent chair and fill the space with a million plant babies! My living room reveal is coming soon! In the meantime, watch my wallpaper installation video below! And if you are looking for removable wallpaper options, check out Tempaper.
