4 Female Sneakerheads to Follow Now

I’ve always admired sneaker culture. Growing up, I had tons of guy friends who would get the latest sneaker drops and come to school stuntin on everybody. I didn’t really get how big sneaker culture was until I got to college though. My male college friends had mountains of sneaker boxes in their rooms. They would go to conventions and wait in line for popular drops. I would just look at them like “bro it’s not that deep.” Cut to me almost 5 years later and I’m standing in line for my own sneaker drops.

One of the reasons for my delayed entry into the sneaker world is the fact that it’s so male dominated. I didn’t know many women who were heavily into sneakers and who’s style I was inspired by. This is why I love the internet. It’s so easy to find individuals who are into anything you are interested in. Now there are a handful of female influencers who I follow for inspo. These women all have their own unique approach to the sneaker world and are making waves in it. I guess you could say they make #sneakher history. Before we close out Women’s History Month, check out these 4 female sneakerheads to follow now.

Aleali May

Aleali is the first female sneakerhead I followed online. I stumbled upon a super colorful pair of Jordans one day and was shocked to find they were designed by a woman from my own hood. Thus a follower was born! It took me 2 years to get my hands on a pair of her Jordan 1 Retro High Court Lux shoes (pictured above) but I credit her as the woman who made me want to become a “sneakherhead.”

Derria Underwood (aka @DLOLO)

When it comes to making sneaker culture approachable, no one does it better than Derria! I started following her recently and would be lying if I didn’t say I was obsessed with her page. She makes styling sneakers look so effortless. I love that Derria goes out of her way to share nonexclusive kicks for those of us who can’t get our hands on the latest high profile drops.

Melody Ehsani

Melody Ehsani reminds me of the girl in high school whose style was both laidback and chic at the same time. The girl who made you wonder why you didn’t look as cool as she did in sweats. Scroll her feed and tell me that I’m lying! Her Jordan 1 Mid SE Fearless shoes are my current dream buy. I promised myself when I get my first episode of TV on air, I’m buying myself these shoes to celebrate.

Kia Marie (aka The Notorious KIA)

Last but certainly not least is Kia aka The Notorious Kia. I started following Kia on Youtube for tips on styling thrift pieces but her sneaker content is just so good! I love how she combines for sneakers and thrifting to spread her message of sustainability in the fashion world.
